The Braided Janes are a Chicago-based bilingual trio blending Latin alternative, post-punk, tropical rhythms and rock into a live cultural experience built to move a crowd. From original music to their own spin on Mexican classics, their versatile set connects with bilingual and non-Spanish-speaking audiences of all ages—and can scale from an intimate cajón setup to a full festival performance. Recognized by NPR, PBS and Mexico's Ministry of Foreign Relations, The Braided Janes have toured 12+ U.S. cities and performed in Mexico, served as direct support for sold-out Chicago shows with Aterciopelados, Vetusta Morla and Jenny & The Mexicats, and hit stages including Taste of Chicago, Ruido Fest, Fiesta del Sol, Villapalooza, Pilsen Fest and Levitt VIBE Chicago. From DIY shows to spearheading festivals, The Braided Janes bring the experience and know-how to create an incredible performance from start to finish. Bilingual and multicultural, we bring audiences of all ages and backgrounds together to dance, connect and be part of the moment.
No two Braided Janes performances have to look the same. Our setup and repertoire can shift dramatically to meet the needs of each event—from a stripped-down cajón set to a full festival production. We consider the songs, their stories, the emotion, the energy of the space and the audience in front of us to shape a performance that truly connects.
