BASTA" SINGLE

Graphic poster with a red megaphone saying ¡BASTA! and barbed wire.

“¡BASTA!” out 10/31/25 is the second single from The Braided Janes' forthcoming album, Renacer, which is set to be released in 2026.

Rooted in the struggles of the people of Gaza, “¡BASTA!” resonates globally, highlighting the silent struggles of communities worldwide living under oppression. It serves as a poignant reminder that while borders separate us, the fight for freedom unites us all.

Crafted by The Braided Janes in collaboration with acclaimed engineer Jeanne Montalvo and mastered by Margaret Luthar, “¡BASTA!” follows the success of their debut single “Bésame” (Nov. 24, 2024), marking another milestone in their female-driven musical journey, leading up to the anticipated release of The Guardians album.

"the guardians" album

"The Guardians album" is a 10 song indie alt, electronica collection that follows previous releases by The Braided Janes. Written and produced by Frank De La Mora alongside lyricist Jessica Rodriguez, the album draws on shared musical influences like Depeche Mode and Blondie. Their collaboration began with a single song, "Obsession," which quickly evolved into a full album. "The Guardians" serves as a sonic time capsule, finally released after years of being unreleased. This full-length album was completed over a 10-month period from 2010 to 2011. Although "The Guardians" was never officially launched, it played a significant role in establishing a solid foundation for The Braided Janes, who also appreciate the mentorship from De La Mora during that pivotal time. Following this, listeners can look forward to their upcoming "Renacer album" and the "Bésame single."

As they continue to experience an extraordinary 2023, today The Braided Janes successfully reaffirm their position as one of the most original and forward-thinking independent acts in the Latin music market with the release of their highly anticipated new album “Renacer.”

Featuring the singles “Paraíso” and “Por Una Mujer,” alongside the energetic “Bésame single,” “Renacer” is a stunning Latin roots album that triumphantly marks an exciting new chapter in the award-winning trio’s career, touching on topics such as life, love, and the unique moments we experience that change us forever. The project, which was recorded in Minca, Colombia, with Grammy Award-winning producer Christian Castagno of Sonido Selva Studio (Iggy Pop, Bomba Estéreo, Arcade Fire) and co-produced with The Braided Janes, brings the group’s sound to even greater heights, introducing new sonic elements to help shape a lively “Tropi-alt rock” offering that fans won’t be able to help but fall in love with.

The seven-track album also features the group’s newest single “Ritmo,” a dynamic dance number grounded in deep, organic beats. With the haunting vocals of the band’s frontwoman Jessica Rodriguez leading the way, the song serves as an extraordinary tribute to music and passion, inviting us to listen to the rhythms that surround us and that drive us from within. Andrés Álvarez from Aterciopelados and Christian Castagno also collaborates in the album as guest musicians in keyboards, electric guitar, and percussions.

The Braided Janes commemorated the launch of their new album, “Renacer,” with a release show on September 23, during which they performed the album in its entirety. The concert also featured guest performances by Niña Dioz, Mariachi Sirenas, and DJ Angelfuk, as well as a fashion show by designer Julieta Zavala. The excitement around their new project adds to the buzz from their previous work, including “The Guardians album,” solidifying their reputation in the Latin music scene.

“Por Una Mujer” is the fourth single off The Braided Janes’ forthcoming album, “Renacer,” and features keyboards by Andrés Álvarez (Aterciopelados, Bomba Estereo) and electric guitar by Christian Castagno, who co-produced the album with The Braided Janes. This vibrant track follows their previous hit, the "Bésame single," showcasing the band’s growth and musical evolution.

With vibrant rhythms and poignant lyrics, “Por Una Mujer” is a bold and assertive anthem dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community. The song holds special significance for the acclaimed band, drawing inspiration from the tremendous unconditional love between The Braided Janes’ singer-songwriter Jessica Rodriguez and her wife, drummer Juny Alvarez, who were married in July 2017, just two weeks after same-sex marriage was legalized in the United States.

“I wanted to write a song that celebrates who we are and how liberating it is when you love who you love freely. In a country where our human rights continue to be under attack, I wanted to shout to the world that whatever happens we won’t give up because true love has no limits,” singer-songwriter Museica shares. “I dedicate it to my beloved wife and to all of those who have fought for us to get here. Love is love, we continue the fight.” This passionate message aligns with the themes in their upcoming “Renacer album” and reflects the spirit of The Guardians album as well.

Vibrant digital art of a confident woman against a colorful surreal background.

A peaceful and tranquil piece of sonic art, “Paraíso” speaks to the magical places and moments we encounter in life that forever leave lasting impressions on our hearts. The transcendent sensations that arise from these special experiences are perfectly captured in the song’s enthralling arrangement, which was born at the hands of the band’s vocalist and songwriter, Jessica Rodriguez, in front of the ocean in Maui, Hawaii, during a family trip that had been postponed due to the pandemic. This arrangement is built on gentle, airy rhythms and melodies that embody the medicinal ocean breeze.

“It was surreal to be in such a peaceful place after a year full of uncertainty, a moment of serenity and healing among nature. We wanted to capture it somehow to share it with those who are looking for that inner peace that sometimes only music can give us,” Rodriguez shares.

“Paraíso” is the third single to be released from the band’s upcoming second studio album, “Renacer,” following their earlier release, the heartfelt “Bésame single.” Fans of their first album, “The Guardians,” will find this new direction both refreshing and deeply resonant.

“No Puedo Más” is the first single off The Braided Janes’ second album, “Renacer.” This upbeat, poetic tribute resonates with those who have felt the absence of loved ones in their lives—a sentiment many can relate to during these past two years. While the song holds personal significance for singer-songwriter Jessica Rodriguez, its lyrics are distinctively enigmatic, inviting each listener to discover their own meaning.

As soon as you click play, “No Puedo Más” whisks you away to another realm, where the soothing sounds of birds and cascading water create an atmosphere of freedom and nostalgia. You can catch subtle hints of cumbia and reggaeton woven into this Latin Pop anthem. Even though the lyrics are in Spanish, the composition transcends language and genre, much like the memorable chorus of the Bésame single that will remain in your mind long after listening. This track, part of the Renacer album, continues to showcase the evolution of The Braided Janes following their debut, The Guardians album.
